I am not the poet of the family, I leave that to my brother-(shepprd family). I was introduced to "Finca La Herradura" by my brother in 2008, it read "the best green place 2008" or words similar. We figured that this would be an excellent "honeymoon" destination for us. We were both up for a relaxing time and great scenery. He (Alan) had been coming here for years(brother-in-law of Russell)We had heard of this idyllic place, but had never thought we would ever go to it. Well, once holiday booked, our wedding went ahead! Of course we weren't disappointed. Jeanette and Russell were fantastic, they showed us around their beloved finca. We loved it too! They were friendly and intimate, but not intrusive. It was everything we anticipated, we can't wait for next year- a week truly in paradise! A week away from a hectic and busy schedule!!!!
By the way - we were here for a week and weren't back later than 3pm because we were so looking forward to seeing "Finca La Herradura".IT IS UNDOUBTEDLY ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ASPECTS OF THE WORLD-EVER!!! I always loved Milford Sound NZ, but this is EVEN BETTER!! (that's more personal to Alan & Melanie)!!

We have really enjoyed our stay here. We have seen lots of photos of the valley in the past but none of them live up to the reality! You should both be proud of what you have achieved here, first class accommodation sympathetically and tastefully renovated in a beautiful setting. We had some brilliant walks the GR142 route to Fondales and Mecinilla was a full days walking with spectacular views of the valley and villages in the next. Thanks for looking after us so well. We are on the terrace 16:00 the last day of our two weeks. Temperature is 24c in the sun & it is 7th Nov.2008. A wonderful holiday in the valley been walking 8 days of the two weeks, with 4 new walks included. We have seen ibex all over the areaa, Heron, owl all seen up close. Sierra de la Contraviesa explored for the first time A must if you want the best views of the Sierra Nevada covered in snow. Jeanette & Russell have looked after us well as usual, and have made an excellent job of re-designing the bathroom. Again terrific sleeps here sometimes not awake until after nine. We are both looking forward to coming back sometime in the future to this haven of peace.
